For anyone planning a Gap Year, who travels regularly or who is interested in travel, these blogs will deliver a unique view from inside the British Consulates around the world.

Although undoubtedly most travel around the world by British citizens is done without significant incident, even small problems which we routinely deal with in our day-to-day lives at home, can rapidly escalate when far away in a country whose language, culture and laws are very different from those we are familiar with.

When things do go wrong, it is these representatives of Her Majesty’s Government who provide support and information to British citizens in trouble. If, as we strongly recommend, the way to avoiding problems when you travel is through effective research and planning, what better way to find out what the common problems are, than by hearing what the men and women stationed in these outposts experience and deal with on a regular basis.

At Safe Gap Year our Independent Travel Safety and Cultural Awareness Workshop considers issues of Travel Safety, alongside sessions on Cultural Awareness, Travel Health, Ethical and Responsible Travel, Travel Equipment, Destination Advice, Transport Options, Documentation, Travel Money and Insurance and more.
